Freelance Writer

I have always enjoyed writing and many of the jobs that I have done from home have been writing jobs. Most of my work has come from writing articles for a few different companies. I also have written website walkthroughs, website reviews, and blogs for other companies. There are many different freelance writing jobs out there but they are not not always easy to find. Many of my post posts on this subject have been aimed at one particular site. Today's post is just to give you a few other places to look for freelance work.
  • Writer Magazines
  • Poetry Magazines
  • Sci-Fic Magazines
  • Freelance Writer Books
Just remember if you have to pay the company money to get a writing job then they are not a good company to work for. If you pay a middle man for putting you together with the company, that is acceptable because that is the middle man's job. Just don't pay for the privilage of working, there are many good companies looking for independant contractors to complete work for them without charging any fees.

It Works Two Ways

I've been busy working for other companies that I found on this site. It started out when I bid on a job for them here, then they offered me the job which I completed in a timely manner (an important thing to remember). Afterwards the companies contacted me and asked if I had a way to invoice them (see my blog about the free invoice program). Since I did, I was able to become an independant contractor for them and now I do work on a regular basis without having to bid on jobs and fight for work.
So it works two ways. I can still go back and bid on jobs when I'm looking for a change of pace or if I see another company that I would like to work for on a more permanent basis. I still like this system and I'm really glad that I found it.

Update on work here!

I have gotten a couple jobs from this place! I wanted to let you guys know how it is going. Ok so...I get to bid on all sorts of jobs; Joomla, writing, marketing, website design, translation, SEO, and a bunch of other things.
I am only interested in writing but some people don't set up their projects correctly so I find writing work under other topics. It is easy to do because you can view all current projects at one time and they sort from the most recent loaded. Since I only bid on projects for writing, my information on here will be from that perspective.
I was wondering how this site makes their money and after getting a couple of bids, I now know. I pay them $5 or 5%, whatever is more, for each job that I get. They take their money as soon as I get awarded the project but I didn't have to load a credit card or anything, they just show your account balance as -$5. Your account can be negative for up to 30 days so as long as you finish your project and get paid within 30 days, the site will get their money and you get the balance.
There is one more catch, when you are new they don't let you pull out the money you make for 30 days. Right now I am working on a nice little pile of money so that in 30 days (less than 30 days now) I will get a decent payday. I can pull my money out into Paypal or have them send me a check. They have other ways to pull your money out too but I am not familiar with those companies.
One cool thing, you can ask the person you are working for to put the money for the project in an Escrow account that this site has. You get notified when the money is there and you can view it whenever you want. That way you know that the person actually has the money to pay you for the work. Once you send in the project, the person verifies it and releases your money.
Some people on here want you to do a lot of work for very little money. At first I bid on some of these cheap jobs so that I could get references. At lot of the people posting jobs like to see your references but you can't get a reference without getting a job. Now I have 3 references and I'm picky about what I bid on.
Most of the work is for different types of programming and building websites. I can't do any of that cool stuff but I find writing jobs to bid on almost every time I log in. While this is a really cool site for programmers to find work, it is a good site for writers too.
Remember you don't have to buy the upgraded membership. I have a free membership and I have gotten 3 jobs already. Right now I have bids on 8 other jobs and I am communicating with 12 other jobs before I decide if I want to bid.
One last thing - if you sign up through the link that I have provided on this blog than they will give you my personal email. If you have any questions please email me and I will help you out the best I can.
This is not a get rich quick scheme, may not be a way to get rich at all. This is a website full of legit jobs posted by legit people. I found out that they have to pay to post a job so only people that are looking for real workers post jobs.
Go ahead and check it out!

A Legit Work From Home Site

I finally found a work from home site that does not sign up fees so I wanted to share it with everyone. If you want to check it out right now it is here. If you want more information about my experience then keep reading.
I have been needing to work from home for a while due to the fact that I am my partner's cancer caregiver. When my job laid me off at the end of November it seemed like the perfect opportunity. It left me with the time I needed to really build up our online store, check it out! Then I realized that people just don't have the money to be spending buying items so I needed to find something else that I could do from home. That is when I turned to my hobby, writing.
I love to write and I have taught myself about blogs, hub pages, and squidoo lenses for our business. I decided to look for freelance jobs that I could pick up between doctor's appts. That was the beginning of a frustrating search. Everyone I kept running into wanted me to pay them a startup fee and then a monthly fee for a chance to bid on work. This concept doesn't seem right to me, I pay you for a CHANCE to work. I don't even think I should have to pay someone for guaranteed work much less the chance to find work!
Then I finally found a decent site. Here I can have a free membership that allows me the chance to bid on all sorts of projects. It has a lot of programming type jobs but there is also a good selection of writing work. If things go well for me and I want to upgrade my membership then I can worry about paying a fee. Since I am just starting out and I need to build up my portfolio, I have no intention of paying any fees any time soon.
I know that I have been mentioning the word membership but that is because I don't know what else to call it. It is not a link to a bunch of other sites. This place has actually work projects, an escrow system which can be particularly useful for big projects, a place for you to create your profile, and a place for you to build your portfolio. This is the real deal!
Now I want to be honest. To run this website, these guys need to make money somewhere. They work a lot like paypal, when you get paid for a job then they take a cut of the money. I own my own business so I know that financial companies charge a lot of miscellaneous transaction fees plus they are fees for hosting the website and more expenses if you have employees. I don't have a problem with paying a fee when I get paid for a job. I do have a problem with paying someone to give me a list of other sites or paying someone for the opportunity to bid on a job. To me - that is crazy.
So if you are looking for work that you can do online, whether it is writting or some type of programming, check this place out - you won't be sorry.
