I finally found a work from home site that does not sign up fees so I wanted to share it with everyone. If you want to check it out right now it is here. If you want more information about my experience then keep reading.
I have been needing to work from home for a while due to the fact that I am my partner's cancer caregiver. When my job laid me off at the end of November it seemed like the perfect opportunity. It left me with the time I needed to really build up our online store, check it out! Then I realized that people just don't have the money to be spending buying items so I needed to find something else that I could do from home. That is when I turned to my hobby, writing.
I love to write and I have taught myself about blogs, hub pages, and squidoo lenses for our business. I decided to look for freelance jobs that I could pick up between doctor's appts. That was the beginning of a frustrating search. Everyone I kept running into wanted me to pay them a startup fee and then a monthly fee for a chance to bid on work. This concept doesn't seem right to me, I pay you for a CHANCE to work. I don't even think I should have to pay someone for guaranteed work much less the chance to find work!
Then I finally found a decent site. Here I can have a free membership that allows me the chance to bid on all sorts of projects. It has a lot of programming type jobs but there is also a good selection of writing work. If things go well for me and I want to upgrade my membership then I can worry about paying a fee. Since I am just starting out and I need to build up my portfolio, I have no intention of paying any fees any time soon.
I know that I have been mentioning the word membership but that is because I don't know what else to call it. It is not a link to a bunch of other sites. This place has actually work projects, an escrow system which can be particularly useful for big projects, a place for you to create your profile, and a place for you to build your portfolio. This is the real deal!
Now I want to be honest. To run this website, these guys need to make money somewhere. They work a lot like paypal, when you get paid for a job then they take a cut of the money. I own my own business so I know that financial companies charge a lot of miscellaneous transaction fees plus they are fees for hosting the website and more expenses if you have employees. I don't have a problem with paying a fee when I get paid for a job. I do have a problem with paying someone to give me a list of other sites or paying someone for the opportunity to bid on a job. To me - that is crazy.
So if you are looking for work that you can do online, whether it is writting or some type of programming, check this place out - you won't be sorry.
